Hillchester Animal Hospital provides comprehensive surgical services for our canine and feline patients. We commit to the highest standards of care for surgery patients and our state-of-the-art surgical suite allows us to perform a wide variety of procedures.

Whether your pet is undergoing a routine procedure, such as spay or neuter, or a more serious or complex surgery, patient safety is our top priority. Modern anesthetics are safer for our patients than those used in the past. Every surgery patient receives a thorough physical examination and blood work, to determine the level of risk before we administer anesthetics.

Throughout surgery, IV fluids support the patient and we use anesthetic protocols tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Our assistant constantly monitors patient vital signs including heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. This monitoring is continued until the patient is alert and fully recovered from anesthesia.

Pre and post-surgical pain management plans are implemented to support the comfort and healing of all patients. If needed, post-surgical hospitalization includes daily veterinary exams, medications and fluid therapy, complete nursing care and patient monitoring, and advanced diagnostics.

You may request additional surgical procedures be performed during a scheduled surgery under anesthesia, such as dental cleaning or microchipping. These add-on procedures must be discussed and approved by the veterinarian in advance of any surgery.
